Health & Wellness

People need smart solutions to lead healthier lives.

Telemedicine, wearable devices, and blockchain in the medical industry are improving patient throughput, health outcomes, and treatment experiences. Remote monitoring facilitates home care and prevents hospitalizations for chronic disease patients. Sensors for air quality and other factors that impact the health of local citizens can raise awareness of problems and lead to swift interventions.

Greater Washington is home to many biomedical and biotech research companies, research hospitals, and relevant government agencies such as the Department of Health and Human Services (NIH, FDA) and Department of Defense (Walter Reed). However, not everyone can access quality healthcare and the industry overall should be more efficient. Focusing on creating next-generation intelligent healthcare should be a top regional priority.

Board of Trade members will discuss these issues and more in a Wellness & Livability solution group, which will gear up in 2019. To get involved, contact George Longwell, Vice President of Engagement, and [email protected].
